Drum Calls Cosmos is a 12-minute presentation of its sister film, Drum Calls | Body Recalls. Both films present the rhythms of Africa and its diaspora as a circle of connection between the past, present and future. It pays homage to ancestral survival in rhythms that transcend exile in slavery to become living, intangible heritage. While African rhythms resist colonial assimilation, the rhythms of the Americas express diasporic cultural resilience, spirituality and innovation.
